Dodd Creek Educational Nature and Fitness Trail
Dodd Creek Educational Nature and Fitness Trail at the Floyd County Recreation Park off Rt 8 just north of town is a free public trail open sunrise to sunset. Partnership for Floyd has designed eight stations along this 1.25 mile loop trail to use your body and mind, along with a few logs and benches, to have a great outdoor exercise experience. The instructions are geared toward the youth in all of us to help us work all the muscles of our body in tune with the nature around us. There are also plant identification signs to help hikers learn about our natural surroundings and bring attention to the natural habitat right here in our own backyard.
There is a short extension of the Dodd Creek Trail that winds through the woods and up to the picnic shelter / playground area. Blue Mountain School Students have painted a nature mural on the small building there. With all local plants and critters, it is a sweet gift to our community.
