Floyd County Emergency teams, New River Valley Services, Red Cross and other important local organizations will be presenting demonstrations, information and panel discussions FREE for our community. After hurricane Helene and other recent disasters, it is clear we could be better prepared as individuals, especially in rural communities like ours, where we might be isolated from services. This will be a very special opportunity to get to know those who help us when times are tough and learn how we can better prepare ourselves to thrive together in these changing times. Listen to “my best advice” from the experts. Learn how to make a good escape kit. Who to call for help. How to “stop the bleed”. How to tie knots like a Scout. Recognize health emergencies like heart attack, heat stroke and panic. Sign up for rural skills and first aid workshops. Peek inside the ambulance. Introduce the kids to a Red Cross robot. Food and drink will be available all day. Bring family and friends. Food is available. Spend the day Learning from experts!
